That's an excellent question I find many people asking. My answer since I've been doing it is because it's awesome! Really, you deserve a better answer than that.
I've been thinking about this one a lot and this is the best answer I can think of. We all have weaknesses and don't always know what to do about them. It's hard work and sometimes boring working on your weaknesses. That's the beauty of Pilates, it's just like CrossFit in that all you need to do is show up. Pilates works on most weaknesses by strengthening your core muscles while working functional movements.
Put yourself in the hands of your trusted instructor and BAM, an hour has gone by you're a bit sweaty, a little tired, and likely some muscles are sore. During that time, it's the instructors job to work what you need worked. Again, all you have to do is show up.
